The Fremont County Board of Commissioners Tuesday voted to authorize the Chairman’s signature on a contract with the Caring for Colorado Foundation to accept a grant to help develop a public health clinic in Florence. Fremont County Public Health Director Carla Dionne said the $30,540 grant will be used to supplement a $50,000 grant from the Colorado Department of Public Health to develop a clinic in the Florence Municipal Building. Dionne said the clinic will focus on health services for young people from birth through age 25. She said the Caring for Colorado Foundation grant must be used exclusively for facilities and equipment and cannot be used on personnel costs. Dionne said they plan to have enough renovation work completed by next January to open a Well Child Clinic from the Florence location. She said the second phase of work on examination and conference rooms should be completed by February of 2013.
In the only other business on the Board’s brief agenda, County Planning Commission member Larry Baker of Florence invited citizens to take part in the Planning Commission’s survey to gather public input regarding an update to the county’s master plan. Baker said Planning Commission members have been working for months on the master plan update and have dissected different parts of the master plan gathering opinions from all seven commission members. Baker said the Commission is now interested in knowing what citizens think about various growth, impact, and zoning issues around the county. Citizens can respond to the survey on-line by clicking on the link on the county’s home page at www.fremontco.com, or you can get a paper survey form at any local post office, your local library, or at the Planning and Zoning Office in the County Administration Building.
