DOT
Please be advised the Fremont County DOT will be conducting roadway striping operations from Monday July 7, 2025 thru Thursday July 10, 2025. The main roadways are Mackenzie, Ash, Dozier, and CR 1A, along with main roadways in the Penrose areas. You may encounter intermittent delays and reduced speed through the work zones. Be prepared to follow directions from crews who may be present to direct traffic. We ask that you do not pass the striping truck, as there will be fresh paint that will transfer to moving traffic. Pilot cars will be utilized, and we ask that you slow down through the work zone. Feel free to share this information with anyone who may need it. We appreciate your cooperation and patience while our crews work to complete striping operations.
County Assessor’s Office
Just a reminder that the Fremont County Assessor’s Office has temporarily moved to the Garden Park/ Public Health Building. They anticipate a return to the County Administration Building in October.
This temporary relocation is necessary to facilitate the removal of asbestos and a comprehensive remodel of the current office space. The project is projected to take approximately three months to complete.
During this temporary relocation, public access to Assessor staff and records will be limited. In-person visits will not be permitted at the Garden Park location.
Members of the public may continue to contact the Assessor’s Office Monday - Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., by the following means:
Telephone: 719-276-7310 or email Stacie.seifert@fremontcountyco.gov
Or go to the Fremont County Website at FremontCountyco.gov and Visit the Assessor's Website and click on Public Record Search
If you need documents signed or physical access to their files, you can call for an appointment, and they will meet you in the County Clerk’s Lobby.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during this temporary transition and are committed to maintaining service continuity to the extent possible

Canon City 2A Justice Center Drive Project:
This project is a reconstruction of Justice Center Dr. from Hwy 50 to Grandview Ave. with the installation of new stormwater culverts, sidewalks and crossings, and full reconstruction of the road surface. This project is expected to last through the summer. The contractor, Avalanche Excavation, will start on the south end of the project at Grandview and work north towards Hwy 50. Traffic plans will change throughout the project, but a southbound travel lane will be opened for the duration of the project. When they are working on the entrance between the courthouse and DHS, we will open the back gate for DHS and Courthouse staff, and visitors. Please do not use the DHS parking lot for through traffic as this could cause safety issues for our staff and clients. This project has a duration of approximately 105 days.
Ultimately, we want the public to know that they may need to pack their patience and try to arrive early to their appointments for the next few months while we complete this project. DHS will be posting updates on our Facebook page as the project progresses.
