Since its inception in 1944, Fremont County Department of Public Health & Environment has been a valuable local resource that provides services aimed at promoting, achieving, and maintaining a healthy standard of living to all Fremont County residents.
Our staff wants to empower the people of Fremont County to make informed decisions and adopt behaviors that protect and enhance the health of individuals, families, communities, and the environment.
We deliver essential public health services to the public in order to create a safer and healthier place by working with community partners to promote health, prevent disease, reduce environmental hazards, and ensure access to health care for all Fremont County citizens.

Fremont County Department of Public Health and Environment (FCDPHE) offers a wide range of health services to the community. Services may vary based on the location, seasons, and fee schedules.
FCDPHE’s main divisions are:

Current Grant Funded Programs offered at FCDPHE:
- STEPP: Tobacco education and cessation program
- SABG: Focuses on alcohol and marijuana substance use education and prevention
- PDD-Drunk Driving Prevention and Education.

As your public health director, I'm thrilled with the remarkable progress our department has achieved this year. Our dedicated staff has significantly increased community awareness of our services and boosted immunizations administered by 23%. We've secured valuable grant funding for professional development, expanded naloxone access, and prioritized off-site service delivery. Beyond these tangible accomplishments, I'm proud of our strengthened organizational culture, emphasizing collaboration and innovation. Our enhanced community engagement initiatives have fostered stronger partnerships and improved our responsiveness to public health needs. Together, we're building a healthier, more resilient community.

COVID-19 Vaccine Update
Federal funding that supported free COVID-19 vaccines during the pandemic is no longer available, however the COVID-19 vaccine is available at our clinic and is generally covered by insurance. Please call 719-276-7450 for an appointment.
Free tests are available to order online at https://www.covid.gov/tests.

Public Health Improvement Plan Approved
This plan, a combined effect of the Fremont County Department of Public Health and Environment(FCDPHE), the Colorado Department of Health and Environment, local healthcare providers and the public, identifies the following top three public health priorities for Fremont County:
- Substance use among youth and adults including:
- Mental health
- Child maltreatment
