Summary

Perform tasks relating to varied aspects of establishing and enforcing child support collections, including location, paternity establishment, collection methods, establishing and enforcing legal orders. Knowledge of child support laws, rules and regulations. Knowledge of court procedures, documents, legal terminology, methods of enforcement. Knowledge of eligibility criteria and ADC rules and regulations. Knowledge of collections methods. Skills in interviewing, obtaining sensitive information. Ability to gather documentation, determine best methods to use in working case, and enforcing child support orders. Ability to analyze information, prioritize, plan and organize workload and meet deadlines. Ability to prepare correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate with client, legal systems and the public. Ability to work with hostile or distraught clients.

Qualifications

Level I: Education and or Experience: Graduation from high school or GED equivalency. Six (6) months full time, paid or unpaid, experience involving extensive public contact.
Substitutions: Satisfactory completion of appropriate course work obtained beyond high school may substitute for the required experience on a month for month basis.
Level II: Education and or Experience: Graduation from high school or GED equivalency. Two (2) years full time responsible office clerical or extensive public contact experience for more advanced position.
Substitutions: Successful completion of an associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in business, behavioral science, or appropriately related field may substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.

Additional Requirements

Proof of valid Colorado driver’s license, vehicle in safe operating condition, and liability insurance must be on file at all times. Must be able to pass a nationwide background check.

Summary

This is a specialized position that works with kinship and foster families.  The caseworker collaboratively provides support and case management to kinship and foster families with open child welfare cases.  Position educates providers in the Family-to-Family

philosophy, needs of children who have experienced abuse or neglect, unique challenges of kinship and foster care, and State and Department regulations.  This position recruits foster and foster-adoptive homes, walks all families through the certification process, provides supervision of the home, and completes adoption home studies; working in conjunction with other caseworkers to fulfill permanency goals and expectations.

Qualifications

Level I -  Education and or Experience:  Bachelor’s degree with a major in a human behavioral sciences field.  Major course work is the equivalent of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in either development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures or therapeutic techniques. Examples of such major course work are social work, psychology, sociology, guidance and counseling, and child development. Level II -  Education and or Experience:  Bachelor’s degree with a major in a human behavioral sciences field.  Major course work is the equivalent of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in either development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures or therapeutic techniques. Examples of such major course work are social work, psychology, sociology, guidance and counseling, and child development.  Minimum of one year of full-time professional caseworker experience acquired after the degree in a public or private social services agency Level III -  Education and or Experience:  Bachelor’s degree with a major in a human behavioral sciences field.  Major course work is the equivalent of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in either development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures or therapeutic techniques. Examples of such major course work are social work, psychology, sociology, guidance and counseling, and child development.  Minimum of two years of progressively responsible, full-time, professional case worker experience, appropriate to the assignment, acquired after the degree in a public or private social services agency. Level IV -  Education and or Experience:  Bachelor’s degree with a major in a human behavioral sciences field.  Major course work is the equivalent of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in either development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures or therapeutic techniques. Examples of such major course work are social work, psychology, sociology, guidance and counseling, and child development.  Minimum of one-year full time, paid experience obtained in a social services agency at a Case Worker III Level.

Caseworker I, II, III – Intake (Position #4a1)

Summary

This position provides intake services for families where child abuse or neglect is present in order to resolve these circumstances, which may include performing child abuse investigations, removing the involved children until the dangerous conditions are corrected, and arranging for long term or permanent placement when living in the home continues to be unsafe.  Conducts investigations on abuse or neglect complaints to assess the need for protection of children.  Monitors progress of clients and modifies case plan as needed. Provides immediate short-term counseling or crisis intervention to stabilize the critical situation and to delay or prevent the removal of a family member. Makes collateral contacts with such community resources as law enforcement and medical personnel to obtain additional information. Participates in staffing with school, mental health facilities, child protection review teams, and other professionals involved with the family members. Attends court hearings.

 

Qualifications

Major course work is the equivalent of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in either development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures or therapeutic techniques.  Examples of such major course work are social work, psychology, sociology, guidance and counseling, and child development.   Level II – Minimum of one year of full-time professional caseworker experience acquired after the degree in a public or private social services agency.  Level III – Two years full time, professional, paid experience obtained after the degree in a public or private social services agency. A master’s degree in social work or human behavioral sciences field may substitute for one year of work experience.
