Summary

The Fremont County Weed Management Specialist provides expertise in Integrated Weed Management (IWM) and serves as a source of communication with Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in southern Colorado as a representative of the County’s Weed Management Program.   Performs seasonal field duties, applying IWM practices, associated with noxious weed management in Fremont and surrounding counties that are members of the Upper Arkansas Cooperative Weed Management Area.  Prepares daily records, interfaces with a variety of local, state, and regulatory agencies; provides landowner assistance; and may prepare maps and provide input to grant writing and reporting process.  Applies herbicides, provides plant identification services, operates within State laws and/or regulations and reclamation standards, and performs daily record-keeping.  Maintains a safe working environment including practicing safe workplace procedures and wearing all required protective equipment.  Performs field operations including sprayer calibration, mixing of herbicides, UTV operation, herbicide application, and equipment repairs in the field.  Performs basic mapping duties using GPS equipment. Maintains daily records of biological, cultural, mechanical, and chemical management methods performed; equipment calibrations; site monitoring; and all other required permits and documentation.

Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two (2) years related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous use or knowledge of mapping equipment and software. Experience with operation of UTVs, off-road vehicles, and other support equipment and herbicide application is preferred. 

Additional Requirements

Valid and current Colorado Driver’s License is required.  Candidates may be hired prior to obtaining a Qualified Supervisor License from the Colorado Department of Agriculture or a similar license agreement from the state of Colorado; however this license will be required to be obtained while employed.

Summary

Position serves as the first and last level of defense for entry/exit points of the Detention Center.  Responsible for monitoring control panels for cameras and doors within the jail and courthouse; operates the CBI (Colorado Bureau of Investigations) computer terminal.  Controls and monitors all security cameras (internal and external) at the Detention Center and Courthouse facilities.  Operates the control center by controlling all entry and exit into the secure perimeter of the Detention Center through entry and exit portals, sally ports, controlled areas and the courthouse.  Monitors and clears alarms for life safety systems through active observation of the fire and water system control panels.  Maintains the control and release of security keys, vehicle keys and impound keys. Receives warrants from courts, entering appropriate codes into computer system.  Files and prepares working copies for deputies, communicates bonding information and cancels warrants when appropriate.  Verifies information on inmates being released, job applicants, volunteers, visitors and blasting permit applicants with regard to driver’s license, warrants and criminal history reports.  Maintains a daily log of all incoming and outgoing agencies, attorneys, and volunteers through the facility. Will log all movements of the inmates to courts, treatment and other activities.  Answers all incoming telephone lines and directs calls to proper department or employee.  Transfers calls requesting the assistance of Patrol Deputies to the Regional Dispatch Center for processing.  Provides general information to the public and to visitors.  Master Control Operators may assist Detention Deputies with searching and dressing out inmates of the same gender.  When acting in this capacity, the Master Control Operators assume all authority held by Detention Deputies.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.   Minimum of three (3) months related experience and/or training, or 

equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Requirements

Valid and current Colorado Driver’s License.   Required certifications within six (6) months of employment: 

Operator Security Number (OSN), Colorado Crime Information Center (CCIC), National Crime Information 

Center (NCIC).  First Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training required.

This position is responsible for the education, promotion, preparation, and facilitation of a continuum of

meetings in the child welfare unit. Responsible for ensuring that decisions are made as a team, keeping in mind

safety, permanency, and well-being of all children involved with child welfare, through a family-centered and

strengths-based approach. Tracks and monitors outcomes to ensure program integrity is maintained.

Qualifications

Level II:  Education and or Experience:  Bachelor’s degree with a major in a human behavioral sciences field.  Major course work is the equivalent of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in either development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures or therapeutic techniques. Examples of such major course work are social work, psychology, sociology, guidance and counseling, and child development.  Minimum of one year of full-time professional caseworker experience acquired after the degree in a public or private social services agency.

Substitutions: A master’s degree in social work or human behavioral sciences field may substitute for the required work experience.   A BSW and Field Placement with any Colorado Department of Human Services will substitute for one year full time casework experience.

For Promotional Purposes Only: Minimum of one-year full-time professional caseworker experience obtained in a social services agency at the Social Case Worker I level.

Level III:   Education and or Experience:  Bachelor’s degree with a major in a human behavioral sciences field.  Major course work is the equivalent of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in either development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures or therapeutic techniques. Examples of such major course work are social work, psychology, sociology, guidance and counseling, and child development.  Minimum of two years of progressively responsible, full-time, professional case worker experience, appropriate to the assignment, acquired after the degree in a public or private social services agency.

Substitutions: A master’s degree in social work or human behavioral sciences field may substitute for one year of the required work experience, one year of work experience must be received after the master’s degree.

Must be able to pass a Nationwide background check including fingerprints to CBI (criminal record), fingerprints to FBI (criminal record), State Automated Child Welfare Information System Check (Child Abuse/Neglect Registry) and Division of Motor Vehicle (Seven years of good driving record for County Vehicle access).

Successful completion of all initial and subsequent training required by the State of Colorado for Social Caseworker positions.

Must be able to be physically present at the Department within 45 minutes of initial call when performing on-call duties.
