Fremont County Department of Transportation

The Fremont County DOT is conducting roadway striping throughout the county and they are currently working in the Oak Creek Grade area. Roadways will remain open while they work, with the use of pilot vehicles and signage to alert the traveling public.  Please use caution when traveling in these areas.  We appreciate your patience and cooperation as our crews work to maintain our roadways and keep them safe for our citizens!

Fremont County Department of Public Health

Beginning in August and continuing through the end of the year, the Fremont County Department of Public Health will open at 9 a.m. instead of 7 a.m. on the last Thursday of each month to allow for staff professional development. For additional information or questions please contact Public Health at 719-276-7450.

Back to School

Just a friendly reminder that the first day of school is quickly approaching for all Fremont County School Districts, which means school buses will be picking up and dropping off children in our communities and additional vehicles will be on our roadways in the early mornings, during lunch and afternoons. Please slow down in those school zones and watch for students and teachers in the crosswalks throughout Fremont County. 

Fremont County Employee Appreciation Picinic  

The Fremont County Elected Officials will be hosting their annual Fremont County Employee Appreciation Picinic next Wednesday, August 19th, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on the lower level of the County Admin Building. This annual luncheon is just one way the elected officials show how much they care about the staff who work for Fremont County.  The Elected Officials look forward to seeing all county staff at this event!!

Pathfinder Park

With the strong storms we have been having the past week, I have heard many comments about how good the ground is at the Rodeo Arena, so I want to give a shout out to our Director at Pathfinder Park, D’Wayne Gaymon, and our facilities staff who are doing a great job of keeping the rodeo arena in such great shape for the Fremont County Fair.

Department of Human Services

• The Department of Human Services will be closed on Thursday, July 23, for a Professional Development Day for all staff. They will open Friday morning at 730 am for normal business. 

We were notified last night of a broken water main on Greenwood Ave, between 6th and 7th streets. The road is temporarily closed to thru traffic while the Canon City Water Department is working to fix the problem. Thanks for your patience and cooperation.

Fremont County Holiday Closure Notice

Fremont County Government offices will be closed in observance of Independence Day. Please note the staggered closure dates:

• County Administration Building: Closed Thursday, July 2nd
• Department of Human Services: Closed Friday, July 3rd

The County Administration building will be lit in red, white, and blue for July in honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States of America and the 150th anniversary of the state of Colorado. 

Fremont County Airport

On Saturday, July 18th, from 11-1, the airport will be hosting its annual pilot appreciation day. hot dogs and hamburgers, chips, and drinks will be provided. Please join US and see for yourself what a wonderful asset our county has with our airport

Fremont County Department of Transportation (FCDOT)

The Fremont County DOT is still conducting dust-suppressant operations for the West end of Fremont County. This includes Iron Mountain County Rd. 26. They should finish operations in the next two weeks.

They are also replacing a guardrail on the Grandview Bridge after a recent car accident damaged it. Grandview Road will be down to one lane, and flaggers will be directing traffic.    

Please exercise caution while traveling through the posted roadways during operations.  Expect minor delays while traffic is directed through the work zones. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Fremont County of Transportation

The Fremont County DOT are still conducting dust-suppressant operations for the East and West ends of Fremont County. Planned roadways on the East end are:  CR 69 and CR 110. Planned roadways on the West end are:    

 Reed Road and CR 2 from MM22 to MM26.5.  Signs and flaggers will be in place, alerting the traveling public of roadwork in progress. Please exercise caution while traveling through the posted roadways during operations.  Expect delays while traffic is directed through the work zones. We appreciate your patience and understanding as our crews work to complete spring roadway maintenance for our citizens!
