What Can Fremont County Weed Management Do for Landowners?
Fremont County Weed Management provides assistance to private landowners with the identification, management, and treatment of noxious weeds within Fremont County.
Noxious Weed Treatment Services
Fremont County Weed Management provides noxious weed treatment services to private landowners when treatment is seasonally appropriate and as staffing, weather conditions, equipment availability, and scheduling allow. Treatment includes the recommended herbicide and application by Fremont County Weed Management personnel.
The timing of treatment may vary depending on the target weed species, growth stage, weather conditions, and appropriate treatment window. Treatment requests may be made throughout the year; however, applications will be scheduled when conditions are appropriate for effective and responsible treatment.
A site visit may be recommended prior to treatment to evaluate the property, identify the noxious weeds present, and discuss appropriate management options.
Treatment Rates
Current Treatment Rate: $150 per hour
Effective January 1, 2026
Treatment services are billed based on actual treatment time rather than acreage alone. Treatment costs may vary depending on site conditions, treatment requirements, time required, and other applicable treatment costs.
Treatment rates are reviewed periodically and are subject to change based on operating costs, herbicide costs, fuel and equipment expenses, program needs, and available funding. Current treatment rates will be posted on this website.
Private Landowner Cost Share
Eligible private landowners may receive a 50% cost share toward qualifying noxious weed treatment costs, up to $500, or as otherwise discussed with the Fremont County Weed Management Director.
Cost-share funding is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Assistance may be adjusted based on individual need, program requirements, qualifying treatment, and the availability of program funding.
For treatment performed by Fremont County Weed Management, applicable cost-share assistance is deducted when determining the eligible private landowner’s responsibility.
Herbicide Sales for Landowners
Fremont County Weed Management offers certain herbicides to landowners at wholesale cost for those who prefer to treat their own properties.
Available herbicides and pricing may vary. Landowners may contact Fremont County Weed Management for information regarding herbicide availability and current wholesale pricing.
Weed Management staff can also assist with noxious weed identification, herbicide selection, application rates, and treatment recommendations when needed.
Herbicide recommendations are based on the target weed, site conditions, intended treatment area, and applicable product labeling.
Always read and follow the herbicide label. The label is the law.
