Summary

This position serves as a reviewer for various County departments, making recommendations based on knowledge of established engineering concepts and practices while ensuring compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations.  Work consists of broad functions within multiple engineering disciplines and project management roles. Assignments are characterized by breadth and intensity of effort and involve several phases being pursued concurrently or sequentially. Requires extensive probing and analysis to determine nature and scope of projects. The work requires continuing efforts to resolve unyielding problems. The work involves isolating and defining unknown conditions and resolving critical problems based on available information and resources. Consideration is given to the well-being of large numbers of people on a long-term continuing basis when reviewing plan submittals or projects.  Assists with, provides opinions on and may oversee County infrastructure, construction and grant projects from inception to completion.  

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university, plus three (3) years of professional experience as a Civil Engineer or in project management; or a combination of education and experience. 

Additional Requirements

Valid and current Colorado Driver’s License.

John E. Kratz, PLS was sworn in as Fremont County Surveyor on January 22, 2019. John has been a licensed Professional Land Surveyor in Colorado since 1983 and in Utah since 2008. Having worked and raised children in the Littleton area, John and his wife now live in Cañon City; John running his Land Surveying business, while his spouse works in Cañon City schools. They both are enjoying participation in local volunteerism, including Chamber of Commerce and FEDC events.
