Fremont County Cleanup Campaign
Just a reminder that Fremont County Government is sponsoring the annual Fremont County Cleanup Campaign which will be held from April 7th-May 16th, . The Fremont County Department of Public Health (FCDPH) is partnering with Twin Enviro/Apex Waste Solutions (Phantom Canyon Landfill) located at 2500 Fremont County Road 67 in Penrose. A limited number of free vouchers will be issued from the Fremont County Department of Public Health, located at 201 N. 6th ST to Fremont County residents, who reside outside city limits, to dispose of household trash, furniture, construction debris, brush, logs, leaves, and yard waste. Each voucher is good for up to 500 pounds. (anything over 500 lbs is $55 a ton) Only 1 voucher per household with a valid state driver's license. Twin Enviro is open Monday-Thursday 7am-5pm and the landfill closes for high winds so please call ahead if you are unsure if they are open.

Fremont County Department of Human Resources
The Fremont County Board of County Commissioners, sitting as the Board of Human Services, is pleased to announce the selection of Tonia Sutton as Fremont County DHS Director. Following the previous Director's decision to step down, her selection follows a brief but intensive search that included eight applications and four interviews.
Ms. Sutton has been employed by the DHS for over 18 years in various supervisory and administrative positions, last serving as Family Services Program Administrator. She will assume her new duties on Monday, April 28, and will report directly to the Board of Human Services. Until that time, County Administrator Tony Carochi will continue serving as Acting Director.
We look forward to her continued service to this board, to DHS, and to Fremont County as a whole. Please help us congratulation Tonia in her new capacity!
Also, DHS will be closed all day for business this Thursday, April 24 to allow staff to participate in their quarterly Professional Development Day. They will reopen on Friday, April 25th at 730 am for normal operations.

A reminder that the annual National Public Health Week kicked off yesterday Monday April 7th, 2025, and runs thought Thursday April 13th. Department of Transportation
We are conducting a re-bid of our aggregate material for our 2025 project season.
Fremont County DOT is accepting sealed bids for our 2025 aggregate material. Sealed bids must be received by 1:00 pm April 10, 2025, at the Fremont County Administrator’s Office: 615 Macon, Room 106, Cañon City, CO 81212. Dates of delivery will be scheduled by FCDOT Supervisors.
Sealed bids need to be submitted on the bid sheets supplied, signed, and contain completed contact information. Fremont County reserves the right to refuse or reject any/all bids. Bid information can be found on our Fremont County website. Click on Other Resources at the top of the page and then click again on Bid Request Portal and all bid information will be listed there.

Electronics Recycling Event
The annual Fremont County Electronics Recycling event will be held this year on Saturday, April 5th, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Fremont County Department of Human Services parking lot, located at 172 Justice Center Road in Canon City. It will be held in partnership with the Fremont County Department of Public Health and Environment.
Anything that plugs in will be accepted including large appliances. Cost is $30 per item, for televisions and CRT Computer monitors. All other items are free.
Please, no lightbulbs, old thermostats with mercury, CO2 Detectors, or smoke/fire alarms.

Bridge Closure
A reminder that FRCO 120 Bridge is closed indefinitely as of February 6, 2025, due to critical damage. We do not have an estimated date for re-opening. Detours, barricades, and closure signs are in place to alert the traveling public. Please use alternate routes when planning your commute and share with anyone who may not use electronic technology communications. We will notify the public once the bridge has been reopened. As always, your patience and cooperation are very much appreciated while we work to assess the situation and formulate a plan to repair and reopen.

Road Closure
Elm Avenue, from the traffic circle going west to CR 143, was originally scheduled to be closed until February 28, 2025, for utility work being completed by the City of Cañon City. The closure has been extended until March 14th. We ask that you continue to plan accordingly for your commute and slow down around the work zone.
2025 Material Bid Requests
The Fremont County Department of Transportation is still accepting sealed bids on materials for our 2025 projects. Sealed bids must be received by 1:00PM this Thursday, March 13, 2025 at the Fremont County Administrator’s office, 615 Macon Ave, Room 106, Cañon City, Colorado 81212.
Sealed bids for Aggregate, Asphalt and Tack, Dust Suppressant and Emulsion need to be submitted on the bid sheet supplied, be signed, and contain completed contact information. Fremont County reserves the right to refuse or reject any/all bids.
