The Fremont County Department of Human Services Child Support Enforcement team has been honored by the State of Colorado for meeting and exceeding performance goals for child support enforcement in 2010. John Bernhart, Director of the Colorado Department of Human Services Child Enforcement Unit, presented a Certificate of Excellence to the Fremont County Child Support Team at the monthly meeting of the Fremont County Board of Human Services. Bernhart congratulated Wanda Embry and her co-workers for exceeding performance goals in four primary categories.
Bernhart noted that the statewide goal for paternity establishment is 90 percent while the Fremont County Child Enforcement team achieved a mark of 98 percent. With a statewide goal of 80 percent for court orders established with child support cases the Fremont County team achieved a level of 94 percent. Bernhart said the Colorado goal for meeting the current monthly support obligations is 63 percent while the Fremont team achieved 65 percent. The statewide goal for child support payments on arrears cases is 70 percent but Fremont County had a 72 percent collection rate on arrears payments. Bernhart said in a tight economy it was a great accomplishment to achieve those success rates.
Embry added that the members of the Fremont County Child Support team have been doing a lot in lowering child support payments for unemployed fathers so they can still survive while looking for a job and still trying to meet child support obligations. Embry said the department has done lots of child support modifications in a difficult economy and job market.
