Applications Sought for seats on Fremont Planning Commission

The Fremont County Board of Commissioners is accepting letters of interest from citizens wishing to serve on the Fremont County Planning Commission.   Two seats on the Planning Commission come up for appointment in January and February.     The Board of Commissioners has decided to review applications for both seats in December so appointments can be in place when the terms expire.    Both appointments will be for three year terms.   The two seats are now held by Joe Lamanna and Mike Krauth Jr.   Both members are eligible for reappointment to another term.

The Planning Commission meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. to review land use proposals, such as subdivisions, zone changes, and use permits.   The Commission then makes recommendations to the County Commissioners who render a final decision on land use proposals.  The Planning Commission periodically conducts workshop sessions dealing with updating the Fremont County Master Plan, a county-wide guideline for reviewing land use proposals.

Persons interested in an appointment to the Planning Commission should submit a letter stating their qualifications and reasons for wanting to serve by mail or in person to the County Commissioners at 615 Macon Avenue - Room 106, Canon City, Colorado 81212, or by fax at (719) 276-7304.   The deadline for letters is 4:00 p.m., Thursday, November 28th.
