A Canon City developer who complained about difficulties in dealing with city and county regulations told the Fremont County Commissioners that he was withdrawing his request for final approval of a final plat for a five lot subdivision.
Developer Ross Jeffrey told the Board of Commissioners at their September 9th regular meeting that he had decided not to pursue a final plat for the Canon Creek Ranch Filing V. The five lot subdivision was proposed at the south end of Sunlight Way along the north side of the Arkansas River. The preliminary plat called for two of the five lots to be accessed along the south end of a culdesac. Jeffrey wanted to modify the two lots into flag lots so they would actually own the access road instead of it being a public road. Jeffrey said it just wasn't practical to build a public right of way for the additional lots.
Jeffrey with the city and county engineers now asking for new drainage plans and the fact that developers are having a tough time getting banks to loan money right now, it is putting too much of a burden on developers to come up with cash.
The commissioners unanimously approved a resolution adjusting the posted speed limit on Ash Street from the Raynolds Avenue bridge south to Elm Avenue. The resolution increases the speed limit from 30 mph to 35 mph based upon a recent speed study conducted by the Fremont County Road and Bridge Department.

Approved a resolution establishing a procedure for persons to appeal to the Board of Commissioners administrative penalties imposed for failure to register Special Mobile Machinery (SMM);

Ratified approval of signed contracts by the Chairman Pro-Tem for Energy and Mineral Impact grants for new Road and Bridge Department plow trucks and for Pathfinder Park water line engineering design;

Rescinded the special review use permit for Bandera Bed and Breakfast along County Road 3A which never went into business;

Approved a temporary use permit for the 74th annual Apple Day festivities in Penrose on Saturday, October 3rd.
