A bid was awarded by the Fremont County Board of Commissioners Tuesday for a vestibule extension on the entryway of the Fremont County Judicial Center intended to solve a long standing problem with cold air that blows into the building during winter months.
Property tax collections across Fremont County will drop by more than a quarter of a million dollars in 2011 based upon the mill levies certified for all taxing entities by the Fremont County Board of Commissioners last week. All school districts, municipalities, special districts, and the county which rely on property taxes for revenues must certify their individual mill levies to the county by December 15th, which in turn must be certified to the Colorado Division of Property Taxation by December 23rd.
The Fremont County Planning Commission has cancelled its monthly meeting scheduled for January 4th at 4:00 p.m. There were no agenda items to be considered so the meeting was cancelled.
The Board of Commissioners reminds persons interested in applying for two seats to be filled by appointment on the Planning Commission to submit a letter of interest no later than 4 p.m., January 6th, at the County Commissioners Office, Room 105, of the Fremont County Administration Building, 615 Macon Avenue, Canon City, Colorado.
The Fremont County Commissioners took the formal steps last Tuesday to adopt the necessary resolutions to put a county budget in place for 2011. Resolutions approving the proposed 2011 budget expenditures, levying the property taxes for the budget, and making the necessary appropriations to fund the budget were approved unanimously by the Commissioners.
The Fremont County Board of Commissioners is accepting letters from persons interested in being appointed to the Fremont County Planning Commission. Two seats come up for annual appointment on the Planning Commission in January. The seats are currently held by Mike Schnobrich and Herm Lateer. They are both eligible for reappointment and have already indicated an interest in serving for another term.
The Fremont County Planning Commission will consider three applications for special review use permits when the Commission gathers for its December meeting next Tuesday.
