Planning Commission to review Zip Line Application

Commissioners Restructure Airport Committee & Adopt New Liquor License Fees

The Fremont County Board of Commissioners Tuesday approved a restructuring of the Fremont County Airport Advisory Committee and then voted to fill three positions on the committee.   Commission Chairman Ed Norden said when the board restructured member terms in September, so that all of the staggered three year terms begin on October 1st, the board postponed a decision on whether to reduce the number of members.   Norden said several committee members had suggested the committee be reduced from nine to seven members.    Norden said after interviewing nine

Oak Creek Grade Road Closures on November 30th

Motorists who travel Oak Creek Grade Road south of Cañon City will encounter delays on Wednesday, November 30th.    Fremont County Department of Transportation Director Tony Adamic said his office has been notified by Black Hills Energy that crews will have to block Oak Creek Grade Road—County Road 143, for 20 to 30 minute intervals on Wednesday, November 30th.     Adamic said Black Hills notified his office that crews will be working on the large power transmission line on top of Oak Creek Grade between mile markers #9 and #10 which will require equipment

Tourism Council Seeking Applications for Community Grants

The Fremont County Tourism Council is accepting applications from community organizations for 2012 tourism funding allocations.   Community organizations and non-profit groups that conduct special events which attract tourists and visitors to the area are invited to submit applications for funding assistance.   The Tourism Council by-laws require that at least five percent of Fremont County lodging tax revenues each year be distributed to community groups to support their special events.   The total amount of money to be distributed will be determined by the T

The Fremont County Board of Commissioners is soliciting letters of interest from Fremont County residents for the annual appointment to fill two positions on the Fremont County Tourism Council.   The Tourism Council develops and administers a Tourism Marketing Plan for Fremont County utilizing the proceeds from the Fremont County Lodging Tax.
