A familiar face to Fremont County residents when renewing their motor vehicle registrations was honored this week for 40 years of service to the county. Cathy Galves began work in the Fremont County Clerk’s Office in January of 1974 after previously working in the Clerk’s Office in Otero County. She spent most of those 40 years in the Clerk’s Office working for County Clerk Norma Hatfield who retired from the office in 2010. Current County Clerk Katie Barr said Galves has always been ready to take on the challenge of new policies and procedures from the State of Colorado as technology changes.
Galves says she particularly has enjoyed making many acquaintances and serving the citizens who have come into the Motor Vehicle Department over the years.
The Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution commending Galves’ 40 years of service. The resolution said in part, “Cathy Galves has been a loyal and valued employee of Fremont County….earning admiration for her extraordinary level of service and vast knowledge acquired through the years”.
