Fremont County Fair’s 3rd Annual Equipment Rodeo

Fremont County D.O.T. Operator Grant Chess competes in the backhoe section of the 3rd Annual Equipment Roadeo last Thursday at the Fremont County Fair

The Fremont County Transportation Department and the City of Cañon City Public Works Department hosted the 3rd Annual Equipment Rodeo on August 1st at the Cañon City Rodeo Grounds as part of festivities at the Fremont County Fair.   Grand Champion honors for the day went to Bryan Boyer of Pueblo County while Tony Fabrizio from the City of Cañon City took Reserve Champion honors.   The top two awards were based upon combined scores in each of three competitive divisions including grader, loader, and backhoe.  Boyer received a Stihl leaf blower and a coat while Fabrizo won a $100 Cabela’s gift card and a jacket.    Individual winners in each division included:

Grader

1st  Place      Tony Fabrizio (Cañon City)

2nd Place      Bryan Boyer (Pueblo County)

Loader

1st  Place      Jake Miles (Cañon City)

2nd Place      Jason Cooper (Cañon City)

Backhoe

1st  Place      Carl Hall (Cañon City)

2nd Place      Bob Blunt (Teller County)

The Equipment Roadeo saw 25 operators compete from the City of Cañon City, Fremont County, Teller County, and Pueblo County.   Coordinating the competition were Curtis Stone, Anthony Bosco, and Tony Falgien.    Judges were:  Daniel Lambrecht, Gary Shaulding, Clint Niedens, and Mike Schrader.   Volunteers, timers, and helpers included:  Don Alder, Jimmy Zeleznikar, Bob Lindley, Gary Weirton, Paul Garrett, Justin Stewart, Don Nelson, Mykel Kroll, Adam Stegman, Rod Page, Dave Holt, Mason Morgan, Mark Mitchell, Dan Vigil, Dody Dominy, and Annette Ortega.  Others contributing to the event included Kim Fazzino—Announcer, CSU Extension-Lunch, Lisa Ring-photos, and Boyd Canterbury-Arena Coordination.  Thanks to Kyrie Ortega, Alex Leavitt, and Reese Dominguez for helping where needed.
