Recent Snowstorms Raise Snow Plowing Issues

Typical high country winter plowing conditions in Fremont County following a heavy snowstorm

Mid December snowfall, which measured over a foot deep in some higher elevations of Fremont County, has prompted the Fremont County Department of Transportation to remind residents of the county's Snow and Ice Removal Policy.   Transportation Director Tony Adamic said county DOT crews who were plowing snow encountered problems again where residents had pushed snow from their private driveways onto the county roads.   Adamic said Fremont County Snow and Ice Removal Policy clearly states that property owners are prohibited from pushing or throwing snow onto or across county roadways.   Any snow plowed on private property must be disposed of on that property.

Fremont County's Snow and Ice Removal Policy also explains which county roads are priorities for snow plowing and sanding operations, and during what hours residents might expect to see their roads plowed.   A copy of the policy can be reviewed in detail on the Fremont County Department of Transportation's web page at www.fremontco.com.
