The Fremont County Noxious Weed Advisory Committee coordinated its annual tour of noxious weed control efforts on June 2nd. This year’s tour focused on the Four Mile Area north of Cañon City. Joining Fremont County Weed Coordinator Jana Gregg in detailing weed control efforts on the tour were Rick Romano of the Natural Resources Conservation Service and Noxious Weed Advisory Committee members Kurt Sorenson and Paul Telck.
Tour participants viewed work in the Four Mile drainage to combat tamarisk using insect biocontrol followed up by hydro-axing and reseeding. On the Kurt Sorenson property in Garden Park he detailed efforts to thin pinon and junipers.
