Planning Commission to Hear Request for Ambulance Station

The Fremont County Planning Commission will hear requests at their August 6th monthly meeting for a zone change in north Cañon and for a Special Review Use Permit for an ambulance station in western Fremont County.

Derick Westback is seeking a zone change from Agricultural Estates to Industrial Zone for a two acre parcel of property on the southwest side of Orchard and High Streets in the north Cañon area.   Westback is proposing space for the storage of RV’s and boats as an accessory use to a mini-storage facility which is the principle allowed use on the property.   The property currently sits vacant.

Arkansas Valley Ambulance (AVA) has applied for a Special Review Use Permit to allow an ambulance station on a 2 ½ acre parcel of property.    The site is located on the south side of Highway 50 about 1 ½ miles west of the Texas Creek junction with Highway 69 across from Shannon Road.   AVA wants to use an existing home to house a full time ambulance staff with living quarters, a meeting room, and housing of ambulances.

After Planning Commission review,  both issues would have to be scheduled for public hearings before the Fremont County Board of Commissioners.

The Planning Commission meets at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6th, in the Commissioners meeting room on the lower level of the Fremont County Administration Building.
