The Fremont County Planning Commission will take up a zone change, a commercial development plan, and a permit for a cell tower at their monthly meeting on Tuesday.
New Cingular Wireless is seeking approval of a Special Review Use permit for a new A.T. & T. cell tower on the southeast side of Highway 50 two miles west of Highway 69 at Texas Creek. A permit had previously been issued for the same site but the permit expired without a tower ever being built.
John and Gail McDermott are seeking a zone change of an existing Ag Suburban zone to Low Density Residential Zone District for 2.2 acres of property they own on the west side of Pisgah Lane in Lincoln Park. The proposal would allow for the subdividing of the property into three lots so that new additional residential lots would be created.
Pikes Peak Motor Company will also come before the Planning Commission seeking approval of their Commercial Development Plan for an automobile graveyard. Michael DeVriendt is the new owner of 35 acres of property about 1 ½ miles west of Highways 50 and 115 at Penrose. The property most recently was the location of Loader Construction.
DeVriendt is proposing to use the property to store up to 2,000 cars which would be used in conjunction with his business of parting out and refurbishing classic cars. All types of cars would be parted and crushed, however some of the cars would be restored on site and placed in a showroom inside the existing building.
The Planning Commission is also scheduled to review a proposed amendment to language in the ‘Minor Subdivision’ section of the Fremont County Subdivision Regulations.
The Planning Commission meets at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 1st, in the lower level meeting room of the Fremont County Administration Building at 6th & Macon in Cañon City.
