The Fremont County Planning Commission will hear requests at their August 6th monthly meeting for a zone change in north Cañon and for a Special Review Use Permit for an ambulance station in western Fremont County.
The Fremont County Commissioners have once again tabled a request by Arkansas Valley Ambulance (AVA) to upgrade their operating license to Advanced Life Support (ALS). When the Commissioners considered ambulance license renewals last April they tabled a request by AVA for 90 days to upgrade from Basic Life Support to ALS status. Fremont County Sheriff Jim Beicker today upgraded Fremont County’s Fire Restrictions to a Stage 2 level. The Stage 2 fire restrictions went into effect at 12 noon today in line with the Bureau of Land Management, the U.S. Forest Service, and many other surrounding counties. The news release said the Cañon City Fire District was expected to follow suit and also impose Stage 2 fire restrictions.

Monty Holmes told the Commissioners that adding two challenge courses with an aerial park, swinging bridges, ladders, and obstacles will be like “people going to a circus and becoming part of the circus”.
